Choosing by Ellie Klipp

High school freshman Tracy McKenzie thinks her biggest dilemma is figuring out if Charlie is still her best friend--until her little brother comes home and says Jason, a boy in his second-grade class, is now Jessica. Wait--you can choose your gender? What does it mean to transition? Is that even possible?

No Concerns.

This is a great book for teens to counterbalance the unkind, harmful and unscientific explosion of affirming gender dysphoria.  Consider purchasing as a gift for your library.

"CHOOSING artfully combines storytelling with scientific accuracy and compassion. The result is an effective and engaging story that offers tweens and teens a positive and factually rich message about a complex and politically charged topic." - Child and Parent Rights Campaign

From the Author:

Tracy and her high school friends face a sudden explosion of transgender expression in both the elementary and high school in her town. Both Tracy's little brother and her older brother face challenges.

The plot weaves in a full discussion of what gender is, what transgender means, and how science shows not only the impossibility of changing your sex or gender but also the risks of puberty blockers and cross sex hormones.
